The Tempest
Ariel’s View

Act 1 Scene 1

My master Prospero has conjured a major storm. There is a ship out there with some of the people he despises most. He says he is not doing this for revenge but to regain his rightful place. I feel very proud of myself knowing I could help produce this storm for Prospero. When I came upon the ship I went to every corner. I was all over the deck and even down to the cabins sometimes appearing more places than once. On the mast and main sail I started off in many flames but then came together as one big one. My destructiveness even seemed to make the gods tremble. Everyone is in a panic running about trying to figure out what to do. Everyone except the sailors jumped into the water. The kings son, Ferdinand, was surprisingly the first one to jump in. But my master does not have to worry for I made the attack close to the shore so everyone would survive. I am very thankful of him and will do anything he ever asks me to do.

Act 1 Scene 2

I see Prospero and Miranda having a very important conversation. I guess he is explaining to her why he is brewing this storm. She seems very shocked that someone could do this to them. He is tired of telling her the story and makes her go to bed. Ah, my master is calling me. I told him what I had done to the ship and that everyone as safe. He was vey satisfied with my work but of course there is more to do. I mentioned to him the promise he has made me, about my freedom for all my hard work. This seemed to upset him and he reminded me about all that he had done for me. He was right and I apologized for my rudeness. I asked about my new tasks and was ready to perform to my best ability.

Act 2 Scene 1

I see that the king and his men have washed up on the island scared and confused. The king doesn’t know where his son is, yet Gonzolo tries to convince him he is alive. But there is Sebastian, being the evil person he is, blaming the king for his sons’ loss and the ship burning down. I know Antonio has something up his sleeve. What I find out is that Antonio wants Sebastian to kill the king! This sounds just like what he did to Prospero. I must wake the king and Gonzolo before they can do this. Now I shall go report to Prospero.

Act 2 Scene 2

Ahh here I see the evil Caliban talking down on my master with Trinculo and Stephano. So Caliban thinks Stephano is a god huh? Well he has another thing coming. Wait what is this…they plan to kill Prospero?! This cannot happen I must tell my master at once!

Act 3 Scene 1

Oh young Ferdinand, trying so hard to impress the beautiful Miranda. My master was right in making him prove his love for her. He seems to feel very fond of her and she seems to feel the same way. I wonder if this is really true love?

Act 3 Scene 2

So Caliban, Trinculo, and Stephano are still plotting to kill Prospero. Do they really think that they can go through with this? Well I think my master would appreciate if I did something to hopefully stop this plan from even being talked about anymore. I think ill try to turn them against each other. Yes I think that is a great idea; and look it worked. It has stopped them for the moment. I shall go tell Prospero this.

Act 3 Scene 3

Here we are back to the king and his men still in a doubtful search for Ferdinand. The king and Gonzolo seem to be very tired. Sebastian and Antonio look like they are having a conversation of their own. Ah, they want to take the next advantage they can to kill the king. This is not good I must do something to distract them again. I know, ill will show them and the king how much of a terrible thing they did to my master. Tell them that they are horrible sinners. Yes this will scare them. Oh my master is so proud of me, I have done so well in doing these tasks. There goes King Alonso, running off scared for his life. I wonder why Antonio and Sebastian are running after him?

Act 4 Scene 1

Prospero is having a very serious talk with Ferdinand about Miranda. He is a great father and loves her very much. Oh he is calling me I wonder what he could want. He wants me to bring about my fellow spirits here immediately. Does my master love me? Of course he does! I shall go away until he calls again. Look at my spirits doing such a wonderful job, sharing their gifts with Ferdinand and Miranda. They all have such magnificent powers. My master is calling me again. He wants us spirits to get together to get ready for the meeting with Caliban. I shall go bring some fancy clothes out to hopefully distract them as they attempt to kill my master. Stephano and Trinculo are very distracted by these clothes and Caliban is getting restless. Now the spirits will be disguised as dogs to chase them away. Yes! Success!! I shall hunt them down. My duty to my master is almost over!

Act 5 Scene 1

I tell my master all my work has been done. Everything he asked me to do I have completed with more than enough satisfaction. I know he is very proud of me. Prospero is my friend. He is setting me free. I will make sure everyone makes its safely home then be on my way. I will still always be there for Prospero though, because that’s what best friends are for.
